One potential problem that you might encounter when you grow your own avocado tree at home are spots on the avocado leaves.
There can be more than one reason for spots on avocado tree leaves, including insect infestation by one of several types of pests. While occasional spots on leaves are to be expected though, a pattern of avocado leaf spots will in most cases point to a fungal problem and not to a particular insect infestation.
In the vast majority of cases, a copper fungicidal spray will remedy the problem quickly but it will take quite a while for you to see notable results. This is because the damaged leaves will not recover and you will have to wait for new growth and new avocado leaves to appear before you will see visible improvement. Rest assured that the use of a copper fungicide will in most cases rectify the issue and when the old growth has been fully replaced there will be no signs of the original fungal infection.
Copper fungicide is an effective remedy for both early and late blight as well as leaf spots, mildew and black rot. It can also be used as a preventative measure to avoid the settling of fungus after a rainfall. It is a powerful fungicide and most products are effective with as little as four or five teaspoons per gallon of water. Avoid the inclination to mix a stronger solution as it will not work any faster or better. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions so as not to damage your avocado tree.

I have a small growing avocado tree with a dark spot on the back of the leaf that looks like a spider nest, but soon turns half of the leaf brown.
I have a avocado – small tree and it has large brown spots on the leaves. What should I treat it with??? It has a small black spot like a spiders egg nest on the back of the leaves also.
It may be environmental stress – is your tree in the ground or in a pot? Has the weather been changing? Where are you located?
Most spiders are beneficial. Do you think you have spider mites?
