My friend Heidi Ross sent this to me the other day. It’s a great poster created by University of California Natural Resources program. Take a look so that you can know friend from foe. Click on the image if you would like a larger view.
Beneficial Bugs include:
- Ladybugs
- Lacewings
- Assassin Bug
- Pirate Bug
- Flower Fly or Hover Fly
- Sixspotted Thrips

What a GREAT poster to have handy! We forget that those little creatures are not always pesky but sometimes even very helpful! And a great resource to have as I am keeping my garden organic (but need to do something about those caterpillars that are eating my broccoli!) Thanks for sharing!!
I agree! Great post! I’ve constantly heard about the beneficial bugs, but have had trouble figuring out which were which. Well… besides my hordes of ladybugs and preying mantis. Thanks for this!
